The Publishers Association’s Annual Report 2022 highlights a year characterised by change. For the publishing industry, it was the year where a sense of normality began to resume after a period of what can only be described as unparalleled disruption.
Antonia Seymour, Chief Executive of IOP Publishing, has used her inaugural speech as president of the Publishers Association to highlight the growth of science and the value of publishing.
Antonia Seymour, CEO of IOP Publishing, has been elected to the position of President of the Publishers Association. Antonia succeeds Nigel Newton, CEO and Founder of Bloomsbury, who remains an Officer of the Publishers Association.
The Publishers Association has today released its new ‘A Year in Publishing’ summary statistics. These once again show growth for the sector, with total sales for the UK’s publishing industry reaching £6.9 billion- up 4% from 2021. 669 million physical books were also sold last year. This is the highest overall level ever recorded.
